My own feelings on the gay issue marriage are rather unorthodox no matter where you stand on the political spectrum. In my submission for the Truman Scholarship I outlined a plan to extricate the religious concept of marriage from the sphere of government control. As an avowed atheist, it concerns me that I have to get a marriage license from the government. Constitutionally, the government should concern itself purely with ‘civil unions’, though not in the sense we think of them today. [...] |
