I’m a fairly liberal guy, as anyone who has read pretty much any post of this site is aware, but there’s one policy where my feelings diverge from what is commonly heard on the left: nuclear power. I recognize that there needs to be a sustainable way to deal with nuclear waste and that steps need to be taken to ensure stability and security. Those are certainly challenges, but why do we simply assume that they cannot be overcome. We have made so many strides in the decade since the last nuclear reactor went on-line in the United States, and and decades more since the bulk of them were constructed.
